TAIPEI (Taiwan News) — The second day of the 2017 Taipei IN Style trade show (TIS) kicked off with a collaboration between Weavism, MO - BO, and Cotton USA.
Taiwanese-American actress, Cindy Yen, both opened and closed the show, wearing looks from both designers.
A duet between an acoustic guitarist and Cindy Yen on violin, singing What A Wonderful World, marked the runway open for the fabulous event. Models of cotton emerged sporadically from the audience and converged on the catwalk with matching, smiling cheer.
Taiwanese designer MO-BO is about teasing out simplicity from the complex and translating the result into wearable garments. Their style reads earthy and earth-friendly. Airy cotton tops and bottoms are paired with square wooden bracelets as well as woven handbags and hats.
MO - BO officially opened their digital doors in 2011. They have been loud-and-proud using organic fabrics since 2016.
Emerald, mustard, and mint pieces shine strong in MO - BO's collection. The models moved with ease inside these ultra ready-to-wear pieces.
Weavism believes that 'apparel builds character.' Their label includes elements of the capsule wardrobe philosophy and thinks that the everyday should be full of adventure draped in the fabulous, not burdened with picking out clothes.
Backpack-esque accessories made of a single bicycle wheel, woven black and white bomber hats, and TPE luggage labels brought the funk to this collection.
Three-dimensional characters sewn onto the clothing brought depth and perspective to certain pieces, with a contemporary take on the letter jacket. Muted navy separates and yellow-yellow parkas stood out.
